Course content Agricultural Economics at the HSWT

Over five days, agricultural managers are given an overview of the agricultural economics of farms in Germany. The methods of common profitability calculations will be explained both theoretically and in practice.

Focus of the agricultural economics seminar

The focus of the course is on economic calculations for

• the minimum use of machinery (tractor/combine harvester)

• fertiliser requirements

• profitability (marginal yield calculation) for the cultivation of cereals (wheat, oats, barley, maize, etc.) and dairy cattle.

• multi-period investments

• the interplay of costs, yields, profits, machinery and equipment calculations.

Methods & tools of the certificate course at the HSWT

The experienced teaching staff use both traditional and digital ways of learning to make the 5-day seminar varied. These include

• Meetings with farm managers to discuss profitability and viability calculations

• Triesdorf-MAX software for calculating the profitability of Agriculture farms

• Guided implementation of the management plan for the development of the business

• Introduction to investment plan & cost estimate and planning methods
